Afternoon folks,
I have a Z900 but would like to put the slimmer Z1B type side panels on it. Ideally repaint in that scheme too.
My question is if I buy the Z1B brackets that provide the front mounting for the side panel lugs, will they fit my bike ?
And if so, do I need to change anything else to make the panels fit ?
I know I have to change the air box and already have one to fit.
Cheers in advance for any advice.
Paul

Hi Paul, my experience was the rear mounting for the Z900 is not exactly in the correct place for the Z1B style side panels. I found that out after welding and painting had been completed on the frame so I have improvised with home made brackets as shown in the picture, with a welded solution sometime in the future. The panels are fine and have now done around 2500 miles without coming off. Photo of right hand side arrangement for reference.
Re: Side panel mounts
Rear mounts on both sides are different and you also have the seat lock on the left hand side.
I ended up removing the lugs on the left hand side panel, making new lugs and refitting them.

Cheers guys.
Just wondering though, if I bought the Z1b brackets (rather than make my own) will they fit my Z900 ok and give me the front mounting points for the side panels in the right place ? Thanks

Yes, the Z1 - Z1B brackets will fit a Z900.
