Adrian H, nice bike! I’ll be using Z1 forks: do your CAD files cope with that?
And us that a standard Kawasaki master cylinder I see?

These people seem to offer Grimeca calipers for £125 plus vat, with pads extra.

@Z1streetfighter, if you were able to knock up a couple of extra brackets I’d gladly pay for your time and materials.

Cant see it being a problem, ill just cluster 2 more in there and Bobs yer uncle (its 10mm so ill be cutting a load hangers too), if i get the file off Adrian i can get the ball rolling soon as.

CAD.dwg file sent to Z1Streetfighter by email. :up
If any one else wants a copy I can email it over my email address is adrianhorsfield@live.co.uk
Note you will also need a 3mm spacer / washer internal diameter 10mm, external diameter 20mm for spacing caliper to correct position on discs.

Z1000A2 onwards bikes will take any GPz caliper which fits straight on without any mods at all.
These will easily give you 30% improved braking efficiency, going by the bikes I've fitted them to previously.
I'm even fitting GPz calipers to my Z1R-TC.

Interesting, but I was hoping to stick with the Z1 fork legs, just installing new internals and new front brakes.
But I suppose that I could adopt a more wholehearted restomod approach and change the forks - only I want to run wire wheels rather than alloys, and that presumably complicates things?
Any suggestions for sensible approaches would be appreciated!
Thanks

Blue spot Yamaha calipers can probably be made to fit with something like a ZXR400 wheel but it’s harder to get a matching zxr wheel into the back - the Kawasaki wheels are quite wide across the hub. Some Suzuki three spokes are narrower and fit more easily (but aren’t Kawasaki..).

Spoked wheels are more complicated they need more clearance (for the spokes) so you need either a thinner caliper or wider yokes. Pretech seem to have gone out of business so the thinner calipers option seems to be just Billet now.

A lot depends on budget - read Buzzard’s article in the forthcoming yearbook to see what is possible.
