Thought as much would be too easy if they were both the same cable did email m&p they said according there info they are the same but seems they have changed the listing since then now carry different part numbers could return it but will keep as spare Will order a close cable from someone else.

They do have different part numbers. I have a 100% original 650 that I've owned from new. 1 cable has a shorter distance from thread to bend. This allows this one to be fitted first and the longer one second. The longer "stem" will clear the shorter "stem" when rotating to screw it in.

However, after much discussion on another forum it seems that the design was changed for 78/79 onwards and only the degree of bend is different to allow clearance. Obviously the shallower bend is the second cable fitted.

A minor difference which many suppliers seem to have missed or diregard in favour of stock simplicity and thinking both cables are the same. This will render one cable useless as as it would hit the first cable when you tried to screw it into the housing.

Yep, same as my 650 original ones but both had hex nuts not knurled thumb lock. :up
When I tried to find them for another 650 build I couldn't find them anywhere. The only ones I could get were the later style where both have the same thread to bend stem length but one has a less steep curve to allow it to be screwed in without hitting the other one.
