Hi,
Has anyone got a recommendation for a staple gun that'll work on plastic seat bases?
I've got several staple guns, including a quite pricey one, and none of them are man enough, or perhaps it's just the staples that are too weak..
Any advice would be appreciated,
Olly

I use Rawl, or Rawl plug and 6mm staples, I think they were stanley. I can check over the week end if you want. They have an angle cut on the bottom of each staple which allows them penetrate better into plastic. No issue stapling cover to the seat with these. If the staples are cheap or have a flat shank they may struggle in the hard plastic.
Re: Decent staple gun
you dont say what type of gun your using ? hand or compressed air ? then theirs the gauge of staple u used i have a few gun's hand and compressed air plus their is different guns for cfm ie i have low cfm 50 ltr and a 300 ltr high cfm its the right tools for the right job so to speak ?

Electric or compressed air is going to be better than a hand operated gun.
As long as your staple length is long enough to bite and not too long to protrude on the top side. 12mm -16mm length is what I normally use on seat bases.
Not an expert on this particular task but as a master saddler I am using staple guns most days and have covered quite a few seats.

Re: Decent staple gun
Thanks all. Most recent I've tried is a fairly pricey hand stapler from screwfix with the correct staples, which are about 3mm thick with an angled end. No good, the staples won't go much more than 1 mm into to the plastic.
I've noticed that oems often use very slim hard 'wire' staples, presumably with a pneumatic gun. I'll look at pneumatic ones but probably out of my price range with only 3 seats to do.
Many thanks,
Olly
