Cam Shims

#1 PostAuthor: Captain Custard » Wed May 15, 2024 9:11 am

Hello folks,

I am trying to swop some cam shims through the club service.

I believe Jerry was the contact but I've not had a reply to my DM yet.

Is this service still available?

Thanks Adrian

Jerry was last active 11 May so probably hasn't seen your mail yet.

Hi.
Purchased some shims from KHI when rebuilding my engine during an inspection / leak fix. Are the shims available through the swop scheme genuine or mixed with pattern items?

Id have thought they started out as genuine but if it's a swap service we have no real control over what people put back in to replace their swaps so hard to be absolutely definitive. There have been no issues so far in twenty years of running the system

What would you suggest as an alternative system?

Hi.
The shim exchange system is an excellent idea and seems to work well. I normally only source and use genuine parts for reliability and have no experience of pattern ( shims ) engine parts. I was thinking of using the scheme I was a bit unsure parts provenance.
