Hello all
I managed to source a rear wheel with the right date codes for my Z1. I got it from a guy in the states at great cost to me including import duties etc. I recently started work on it only to find that there is a flat section on one side of the rim (absolutely not what I was expecting). See pics
I live in East Yorkshire, my question is does anyone on this site know anybody who can re work the rim back to true for me? Any suggestions / contacts / recommendations would be very much appreciated.
Thank you
John

Re: wheel rim problem
Hi.
I had issues with my S2 wheels but not to extent yours has. I ended up with a replacement set from the states also, again £££'s .
Straightening the hollow rim sections is difficult.
This a guy recommended by the Triples forum. Mal :- contact details are 07861 793539 or wildewheels@gmail.com

Re: wheel rim problem
Hi Alan,
Thanks for the response. Much appreciated.
I found a company called Maidstone Motoliner. They took it on and did a great job of straightening it out. Cost £66 including courier back to me.
One for anyone else with the same problems.
Cheers

Re: wheel rim problem
That is great news! Was the chrome still intact after you got it back? Just curious how they did that ..
Re: wheel rim problem
Hi Mathh,
Sorry for the really late reply I haven't been on this site for ages.
Apparently the firm had this older chap they employ and he straightened the rim 'old school style' - whatever that means.
To answer your question the chrome was still intact but I had the rim re-chromed because it was going a bit grainy and rusty in places.
Cheers

Re: wheel rim problem
Just seen this post, i too live in East Yorks Hull, i bought a new rim for my Z900 A4 as the chrome on my other was very poor to say the least, have kept old Takasago rim though. Anyway i respoked the rear wheel a while back myself as again spokes were very rusty and pitted. I used Phillipes guide to do it, went really well and true. However tried to re lace new rim with new spokes it just would not run true no matter what i did, in the end rang the bike place that vapour blasted my engine cases if he knew anyone locally, he gave me the name of an old school wheel builder who lives in Hull, he does work for most of the bike dealers in tbe area. He rebuilt my wheel and trued it up, excellent work and good prices too. Hes called Stan( the spoked wheel man) 01482 494303 if anyone needs his services.
