Got it almost back together, all shimmed up, just waiting on a cam cover gasket.

Re: Much cooler downpipe
Gasket turned up yesterday so that was fitted along with RTV for cam cover halves.
Chucked the tank on, prime for 20 secs, full choke, started 'quart de tour' as we say in French. Checked the temps of the downpipes and No.2 now gets as got as the rest.
Tank back off tomorrow evening to redo the mixture on N'2 and redo the sync. I'm sure they will be out due to the open valve.
Happy so far......

Couldn't really see the colortune due to sunlight but did a sync.
No 2 had risen 6cm. Levelled that off with No.1 then had to bring 1/2 down 3cm to match 3/4 lifting the idle as I went to stop it stalling.
I starts very well, no popping at all on choke and very steady cold or hot.
Went for a quick blat down the lane, blimey, it's like a new bike. Not surprising really since it has gained 1/2 a cylinder and blocking the clean air cobblers can't hurt.
Very pleased indeed.
