Z1000 Mk2 frame problem - Info needed

#1 PostAuthor: Chris Riv » Sun Sep 10, 2023 6:31 am

Hello all, I’m helping a friend restore a Z1000 Mk2 & the rear of the frame has been butchered where the rear light fits. Can anyone please show me a pic of the rear of the frame, looking straight at the rear light mounting area from the back of the bike?

Many thanks in advance, Chris.

Hi Chris, the rear light / tail mounting on the Mk2 is virtually identical to a Z1000ST. the tail mounting on the Mk2 fits onto round "pins" and the ST onto flat. The tail light and numberplate mount are the same for both bikes.
Theres an ST frame for sale on ebay with PICTURES ebay number 314359911257 - if you search you'll probably find more.
Mk2 frames, as you probably know, are getting hard to find !
Hope this helps.

Hi Dave, thanks for that info. Ive looked at the Z1000 ST job on ebay & can see the similarity. Ive just gotta work out how to repair it now……

Many thanks, Chris
