Where exactly is the leak coming from? You mentioned earlier from the rear overflow. That would have to be the one coming out of the bottom of the air box!
Had a really annoying leak on mine the other day coming from the bottom of float bowl number 1. Turns out it was the in-line filter had cracked above carbs 3 and 4 and running down the fill pipe, along the bank of carbs and dripping from the lowest point!

Re: Z1100R First Ride Problem
From experience its difficult to see exactly where the fuel is coming from as it always runs down the carb body.
I am not a great fan of draining carbs; always leave my Z1 with fuel in and starts on the button every time even after 3 months.
However my Hodna cbx has 6 carbs and following lots of advice (as cleaning the 6 carbs on these things is a mission
) i did drain the carbs prior to a 2 monthly lay up. And 'hey presto' on filling with fuel again the floats in 2 carbs had stuck in the open position consequently leaking fuel.
My advice for what its worth always use premium grade fuel with an additive such as Seafoamhttps://seafoamsales.com Whole sections in the CBX forum on how good this stuff is
from people who want to look after their carbs. Rather than tilting that 6 cylinder engine forward

Just to dive in, where do you get seafoam from? I've been searching for it in Europe or the UK for ages.

I got mine through a supplier on eBay. Just use your search.
Amazon also sell it.
Amazing product by all accounts. Ive just started using it as the reports on its effectiveness and recommendations can't be ignored.
