Here's a daft one I have encountered a few times during the past thirty years.
Some owners like to tidy up the carb rubber pipes. They connect the two pipes which vent the float
bowls thinking it enhances balance. This stops or retards fuel supply to the float bowls because the
breather pipes are not vented to atmosphere...Takes two minutes to look at and remedy.
