I think that the Z1R wheels have a slightly different design where the spoke meets the rim.

Z1r has a deeper dish to rim and slightly smaller rim than mk2

Kawasaki also started selling genuine wheels as accessories in later 1978/1979 as they were becoming all the rage so if you had a earlier bike like a 1000A1 that had originally had spokes you could make it look modern :)

Looks like a nice pair of wheels - though I think you might do well to hang on to them, especially after you've had to clean the set of spoke wheels your'e putting on !! From the pics. those are Z1000A3 (1979 Mk2) or, as another member mentions, Kawasaki also sold these in pairs as accessories around 78/79 - check Dave Marsdens Z1 book. Z1R D1 wheels, although same design have 18 x 2.15 front - the BACK I think is the same as the 1000A3 you have. As to price, 18 inch BACK wheels with 4 bolt disc mounting i.e. what you have got, are getting hard to come by. I don't believe there are any currently for sale in UK. (though there are some later types with the 7 bolt disc but these need work to make them fit and obviously aren't what's needed for an original restoration) A US ebay seller is currently asking around £375 for a single Back wheel in similar condition to yours. A "rough" example, again US recently sold for around £150. A UK buyer would have to pay shipping on top of these prices ! At a suggested £300 for the pair,I think this would be a very fair price, especially including the sprocket carrier and spacers - some of these spaces are also very hard to get. Even if you asked £400, this would not be too much I think and would likely find a happy buyer. N.B. I can't comment re the fitting for Z650 C3 although C1/C2 versions had a 17mm dia rear spindle so the 20mm dia spindle used with your wheels means they wouldn't just bolt on ! It's an easy conversion but only if you can find the right bearing spacer. Z1R D2/D3 wheels I believe, though I've never had any in my hands, use the same wheels as the late Z1000A4 (late 79/80 Mk2) and these have a wider 2.15 FRONT rim as well as small detail changes to spoke design and the Kawasaki logo cast onto the wheel rim. For most people though, the wheels you have would probably be fine for any Mk2's or anyone wanting cast 7 spoke Kawasaki OEM wheels on an A1 A2 Z1000.
