very bad planning

#1 PostAuthor: andyjb » Thu Sep 24, 2009 7:21 pm

After searching for a very long time for a z1000, I finally found one and brought it over to Ireland last month. Lo and behold I suddenly get offered a new job in the uk, so now need to put Geoff into storage until I find him a new home.
Anyway, chances are he'll be locked away safe and sound for up to 12 months, so was wondering what I need to do to make sure Geoff sleeps well?
It also means I can be on the look out for another one until we meet again....

Put bike on centre stand.
Drain fuel tank and carbs.
Dis-connect battery, depending on age, condition, etc decide whether to keep and connect to trickle charger or throw it and get new one when you put bike back on the road.
Cable tie the clutch lever back to the handlebars, this keeps the clutch plates seperated.
My personnal choice is to spray Duck Oil on all metal parts, down exhaust, etc to prevent moisture.
Use a breathable bike cover.

Hi

Don't use one of those optimate things, as over a period of time they will boil the battery dry. as i found out to my cost.
