Running problems

Hello guys, not been on for a long while but everytime i do log on it seems more and more are having running problems that just cannot be solved.
If it's any help to anyone I suffered the same trouble and did all the same stuff with no improvement then stumbled on the simplest thing which sorted it completely.
I had reassembled the carbs and tightened the screws which hold the needles in the slides with slides in my hand.This caused the needles to be slightly off centre and consequently rub on the inside of the tube sometimes not allowing the slide to fully close.
With all the carb tops removed i slackened the screws and retightened them allowing the needles to centralise themselves and would you adam & eve it the thing ticks over smooth as silk, starts a dream and revs clean as a whistle.
Hope this works as well for someone else as it did for me.
