Seem to remember reading somewhere here that fitting zx9r ( c model ?) conventional rwu yokes to the Zed (900/1000 frame) are a simple bearing swap ?
Anyone got info of this + fork length measurements , wheel spindle diameter, pic's of bike etc.

ZRX1100 43MM FORKS fit with a bearing swap fork length 30.5" stem diameter TOP 25mm (BEARING 30205A) BOTTOM 28MM (BEARING 320/28X) offset 32mm. wheel spindle length 245.

Thanks, but looks like one off yokes were used there.

Bottom bearing is just a set from the ZRX...straight fit

Top, you will have to order one separately.

Good to know So how about the ZX9 ZX6 RWU trees/yokes are these just a case of changing Taper rollers and bolting up

I was looking on evilbay for some chunky rwu forks and these zx9's came up -

Seller says they drop straight in the Zeds, hence the query.
Thought i'd read somewhere it was just a bearing change ?
Was hoping to keep things quick and simple on this latest project as i'm still working on the last one .

Is that fork length measurment from the fork top to the spindle center ?

Yes it is they are basically an inch shorter than standard z900 1000 forks.
Here is some fitted.
Not in a z1000 but same bearing fitment.

Standard z1000 hub in the wheel, you need to make a custom spindle, mine was made by Phil Denton but I need another one making soon. You can probably make your own.

Zed, I have GSXR750 forks in my project J but with the kerker in place it sit`s way too low Even allowing for Fork extenders like GB had made, it would still be low compared with ZRX forks.
ZX9/6 Forks Fronts seem easier to come by, so may be a good solution if they are long enough. Better still if the yokes are an easy Transplant
So if anyone has any info it would be appreciated

I have am in the process of fitting ZX9R forks to my second z650 (810).. Inspired by jb's nice turbo.
I was told I needed to fit a stem from the 650 into the ZX900R lower yoke. The article in practical Sportsbike with the GPZ750 getting ZX9R forks also has their lower yoke from the ZX9R getting the stem change treatment, it is quite a long stem as std.
Barry at Blue Haze engineering did this for me and is just making up the spacers to centralise the wheel now.
I picked up a cheap yoke off a CSR650, removed the stem and Barry made up a press fit bush which was welded to the stem and then pressed into the lower yoke.
I have a spare set of the ZX9R forks and front wheel spindle (like the ones fitted to ChrisNI's Z1000, with the blue air caps) and have a lower yoke coming for them soon if you were interested Rob, the forks are in very good condition with good damping, no pitting or leaks and straight.

ZZR1100 forks - late 90's - same sort of thing

I also have some Micron billet alloy padaptor plates so you can fit typical Nissin 4/6 pot calipers.... for sale
