small problem with my z1a when i start it up it fires ok but won't rev like it should on the choke, there is lots of fuel reek and it does not clear till warm ,is this the norm?

My Harris is the same mate, but then Im running lumpy cams, bigger carbs, etc. I usually start it without the choke to be honest, or put it on and flick it off again straight after starting and watch the throttle for a minute.

Sounds like its flooding... too much fuel around, so running rich and won't need so much choke. Could just be a sticky float valve, a bit of sh*te in it, or a leaking float!?
