latley when pulling up to lights or a junction etc , i have been getting a neutral between 2nd and 3rd gear, the light doesn,t come on , but can release clutch and bike does not stall . i know it is btwn 2nd and third gear as have counted gears up and down when moveing off, not causing a problem at the moment , but is there a problem on the way?

This is happening following a down-shift from 3rd into 2nd? I would check the condition of :

a) Spring pawl mechanism attached to end of gearshift &
make sure the two springs are in good shape.
b) Ensure selector pin cover plate is OK & pins are good.
c) Selector fork on the end of gearchange lever, check
profile of 'hooks' that connect to the selector pins.

Failing this then:

You've probably got worn selector forks.

From memory you do the following:
1. Drain oil & Removing the sump
2 Remove LHS clutch cover
3. Remove inner cover over selector shaft.
4. Extract the rod (selector are located on this)and you
should be able to remove selectors from below.
I don't think the oil pump has to be removed.

Good luck. If you need dimensions let me know.
