Yoshimura / Moriwaki Ignition Cover

#1 PostAuthor: Jumbo » Wed Oct 24, 2012 1:48 pm

Would someone be able to measure one of these covers if you have one fitted to one of your bikes. I fancy my hand at machining one of these up.

Let me know if you are happy to measure and I will let you know which measurements I need.

Mark no need to send. I just need the 3 following measurements

Thickness or depth at the top part of cover.
Measurement from the top to where the sloped section starts. This always seems to be below the line of the screws.
Thickness or depth at the bottom of cover.

Steve the main reason for doing this is when I am away on the ship I normally have a few hours spare in an evening and a workshop available with a lathe, milling machine etc etc.

I have thought a few times I should make something for myself during that time.

In answer to your question I probably could do and if I get stuck bearing in mind that I have not really done any machining for years. I could always get one of the fitters to help me !!

What design would you want, finned on the top and plain on the sloped part ?

It all depends Mike.

Are you planning to replicate the Yoshi lettering? If so I would fancy the fins, or perhaps grooves on the sloped part, if there is no lettering, then fins on the upper part would work best.

Don't break your balls over it though Mike, it's only for the 'Yoshi' pistoned toaster, which is all a bit 'tongue in cheek' anyway.

I would be interested in a couple of sloped covers with or without lettering or "fins", if you're planning on doing a mini production run.

I really just need an angled cover for ground clearance.

Let us know,

Cheers
Phil

Hopefully it'll get ripley a few less bidders .
I am looking for someone to be able to mill the Moriwaki logo into some alloy to have welded onto a zephyr550 points cover as they have already got the cutaway at the lower edge. Sadly thet only fit the 550/650/750 motors

Jumbo can you mill out the logo? Happy to pay you to do it. Jim

Thanks for that Guy, I already have a 'standard' finned cover, was just looking for a (tongue firmly in cheek) 'trick' version.
