Will a front master brake cylinder from a z400 do as a replacement for the one on my z1000 or will the braking be worse than normal?

is it off a Z400 twin? have you got a singal or twin disc set up on your Z1000
usually
1/2inch = singal disc
5/8inch = dual disc

Check the bore size. Usually stamped on the master cylinder body. If too small you`ll have problems on the thou.

If originality isn't the priority, but braking performance is, try a modern plastic rep (any Jap) brake master cylinder. I had a 'Pretech' six pot caliper on my Z1A for a while, with the standard master cylinder. It was very wooden in feel.. YUK. But when I fitted a 1992 GSXR master unit it transformed it into a powerful brake with good feel to!

I'll sell you a nice AP adjustable pressure one then you could taylor it to what you want! GSXR ones are either 14mm (4pots) or 5/8 (6 pots)
