Is the headgasket on the Z1000A1 round cam cover engines the same as on the Z1000A4 square cam cover engines ?

Yes! Even the cam cover gasket is the same.

Rebuilding a later top end here and i have the remains of a gasket set that's badged up Z1000A1/A2 .
That's what sowed the seeds of doubt .
