1984 gpz11 s/arm ?

#1 PostAuthor: snotie1965 » Mon Apr 14, 2014 5:10 pm

I was adjusting my chain yesterday (sun 13th) on my gpz1100 uni-trak,and when i re-tightened the two 8 mm allen bolts to lock the adjusters in, one of them snapped ! so i thought F£ck ! but i have a spare s/arm in the lock-up :) BUT the one off the slightly newer gpz11 ut has a smaller swing arm bolt ,so is not a straight swap :(

Has anyone else come across this ? and would it be possible (safe) to have a collar made up to put into my frame ? it would only be to make up 2mm difference ,the other side is the same ?

I thought i would ask on here before i take both arms to the local engineering shop ?

Or has anyone a spare s/arm going with the larger s/arm bolt (16.8mm) the smaller one is (14.8mm) .Any help would be much appreciated ,i need it sorted before the rain starts again !!!!

Would it not be easier to remove the broken 8mm bolt ?

I did not know that until today when i had both of them on the bench !

Do you think that a insert collar ,bush type thing could be made and then use that in the frame ? the other end is the same ,or should i just try and source another s/arm ?

no , they are different sizes , i found another s/arm on ebay £30 delivered ,and it is the same size as my original ,so if the bearings/bushes are shagged i can swap them ,chuffed .....
