not just the colour of the stripes, but where they are on the tank, and if they have the white stripe is it on the top or underneath, and then just to confuse people do you have stripes on the side panels or not? so many variables on this whole scheme.
I quite like this one....

or white over blue...

The white over blue scheme is what was used for the '82 Z1000R1 Lawson Rep.The blue over white was used on the '83 Z1000R2 and also the Z1100R1 Lawsons.I prefer the white over blue Z1000R1 paint scheme.
The 2nd picture shows the later GPz tank fitted to Eddie's works racer but no headlamp fairing.
The photo of the Z1000S1 shows it fitted with a round headlamp shell,1000J ?? and no headlamp fairing which were fitted to the road spec E.L.R.

They were fitted to the U.S. spec Z1000J1 and also the J2 models i think. They will fit your bike if you can find one.
All the U.K. spec Z1000J,GPz1100B1/B2 and Lawson reps had the same style of tank.
Have a look at ebay.com

Not sure what it's called but old man Ash often wears the same colour eye shadow,so he's the man to ask.

Dale,if you're going for the Z1000R2/Z1100R1 design then you can get a full decal kit from Sunrise Graphics. This amy well be more cost effective than having a 4 colour paint job and all the associated masking.
Good to see the old man being as much use as a wheel clamp on a gondola!!!
