A 'H' ah

#1 PostAuthor: nicomkii » Sat Jul 18, 2015 5:49 am

Deep in negotiations on the pick up of another Zed, this one being a 1980 H model still with Fuel Injection fitted. Plan is to go after this one and probably let the GPZ900 go.
There are limited comments on the H after doing the obligatory search with last comments being a few years back. Essentially my take on them is a MKII with Fuel Injections, knowing the MkII being a solid bike and naff all inherent issues the question probably is the Fuel Injection reliability. Fuel injection doesn't scare me I just don't know it, if it faults is there beside the road fixes available or is it trailer home job ? Any other advice comments appreciated and taken onboard.

There's nothing wrong with the fuel injection.
As it was one of the first one produced, if there were any issues it got slagged off as dealers and tuners knew little about it.
It really is basic electronics and if something fails. the manual gives a good troubleshooters guide and a decent electronics engineer should rectify it easily.

There's little reason for the injection to pack up....electronics are one of the most reliable things on cars and bikes. There are quite a few still running with the original set up after 35 years.

Go for it and you'll have one of the rarest and best looking Zeds.

PM on way. I have agreed on price for the H, pending an independent viewing. Bikes on the other side of the country so getting mate to check her out.

Very nice. Bought one myself two months ago. Its in pretty good shape but I will look to strip it over the winter and bring her back to her former glory.

I did offer a price that was accepted pending inspection. A few other issues came to light so reviewed and resubmitted offer. Not accepted and informed there were two in line offering to buy her & now its heading to the UK. Was all set for a 7000km road trip to pick it up too. Would've loved it beside the MKII but have to draw a line somewhere.
