Z1 tank fit a z1000a2 ?

#1 PostAuthor: mike_p » Wed Sep 07, 2016 6:40 pm

Will a z1 tank fit on a z1000a2 or are they very different ? I remember hearing a rumour a while back that the z1000 tank has wider mountings ??

They are interchangeable as I have a Z1 tank currently on my Z1000.

Certainly the z900 tank needs the front fixings to be extended as the 1000 tank is narrower at this point.

cheers....I thought I had heard something along those lines w while ago. Is it much different or an easy thing to sort ? I was thinking of buying one of the new repro Z1 tanks from Z Power and putting it on my z1000 as they seem a good price
Cheers

Z1 tank should fit but is very different from Z900 and 1000. Mainly the bottom seam which is inside, closer to the frame on earlier models.

It is necessary to extend the lugs which have the round rubbers on.
I used some tube over the original and forced the rubbers on to that.
