Air-boxes Z900-A4, Z1000-A1?

#1 PostAuthor: Garn 1 » Sun Sep 25, 2016 5:20 am

Trying to tell the differences in the Z900-A4 & Z1000-A1 Air-boxes.
Seem to remember something about height of neck where air-filter fits.
Grooves for cables on side.
air-box cap has provision for two breather tubes!

I need one of these for a Z900-A4. Any help appreciated.

Will either of these fit?
Is it the same filter element for both?
Note the one on left is the same one throughout pics.

I have an A4 and the airbox looked like this when I stripped it down. Very similar to the one on the left.

Best to note that there were a lot of things wrong with mine when I bought it, including a lot of Z650 bits, but as far as I am aware, this is the correct airbox.

Thanks guys.
So it looks like the one on the right, in my above pictures is the A4.
This makes sense as (Richard's) A4 air-box has the same vees on either side to allow wiring to pass to the battery area, also, it has the same neck at the air filter hole. Gee!, They are ugly mothers!

As chrisu has said above , the airbox on the left is definitely from a Z1R :up

Thanks again for the interest,

Could Z1R air-boxes be the same as Z1000-A1?
I can only recall playing with either Z900 or Z1000-A1 of this style air-boxes.
I do believe chrisu said it looks like it may be a Z!R?
I wonder if its interchangeable to fit an A4?

The Z1R airbox is quite different from an A1/A2 airbox only the silencer is the same and the A4 airbox is different again, the Z1R box will fit an A1/A2 as I had one fitted to an A1 myself so i would presume it would also fit an A4 with maybe a different support bracket.
Airbox only Part nos.
A4 = 11011-054
A1/A2 = 11011-065
Z1R and others = 11011-1006

Z1000 A1/A2 has round tops to suit side panels.
Z1R is squarer.

Thanks Steve & Adrian.
I'm wondering now, after sorting the Z900-A4, what other 1000's was Gus mentioned, will fit the A4? If I forget about the silencer will others fit the A4 , albeit, not a perfect fit!
