Guys, I've been offered a z1000 with both frame and engine no's OOA/888*** & OOAE/888*** but can't find any matching models on any info sites. Anyone got a clue what it could be?

Engine no would fit with a mk2 but dont frame no's start with a 5 unless hes got dodgy eyes and has mis read the 5 for an 8. Its peardrop tank and ducktail though and log book says A2 so am totally confused.

don't think its an a2 engine no's don't go that high only one that comes anywhere near those numbers is the mk2 but that doesn't have a tear drop tank. is the engine black? has it got the squared of cam cover ?

No and no. You can see why i'm confused. This is the site I use for cross checking no's.

the frame number is not an a2 the frame numbers do not go that high the engine number is z1000mk2 & models after that . the frame numbers look too thick & suspicious to me maybe its had a frame change in the past & they have stamped the engine number on the frame

Both been re-stamped.
Font is generic machine number/letter stamps and number pad on engine is later long type which should have a raised border .
Only early cases with short number pad had no border.
This always gets lost when original numbers are removed.

Okay then I'll say it's well stamped - I've seen more hamfisted efforts.

I did notice the engine number pad didn't have a raised border but wasn't aware that all later models had it, so you live and learn. It's a shame cos it looks to be a nice bike but now definitley not worth what he wants for it.
I'll give a swerve.
Thanks guys.
BTW, if anyone has a proper z1000 A1 or 2 which is at sensible money, I'm still looking.

kztooae...engine number denotes mk2 (square cam cover)so either z1000e mk2 or possibly 1979 ltd like I have.frame number for ltd models are kzt00b so I'd say tread carefully...

Surely MKII engines start with 08xxxx. I've never seen any Z frame or engine number start with an 8 and I'd like to see the info that the VJMC verified it from.

The seller was reticent about giving me the pics below and took some cajoling. After posting on here and talking to Martin (PR Manager at K Europe) its been confirmed that it's either been nicked and re stamped, or written off and re stamped. I can't think of any other valid reason to do it? so I've walked away from it. Either way those numbers are not genuine.
It's on ebay at the moment and he wanted to do an off ebay sale at £5500.
Hope its not one of you guys bike or that none of you guys are bidders.
