Assembly lube for cams?

Guys, tomorrow I will reassemble my head and was just wondering if I should get proper cam lube for restart or if I prime all with oil will be ok? The cams and buckets were all new and ran for maybe ten mins before I pulled the head to fix the exhaust stud.. Sourcing proper assembly grease or cam lube is looking tricky locally, but don't want to take any chances.. What do you reckon?

Cheers
Lee

Never bothered with lube, just plenty of oil in buckets, prime pump by backfilling, spin over with plugs out short bursts till oil lamp goes out...

Agree with Paul, assy lube is overkill. Even Kawasaki dealers wouldn't use it, just use oil.

It does depend on how long you intend to leave before you run it.

When run, the oil will get hot and get in every nook and cranny in a way it won't from you spreading it around as you build it.

Not an issue, if you intend to start it soon after building, but if you build the motor at the start of a 2 year overall rebuild, then assembly past will stay where you put it ready for the start-up.

Only my opinion and what I do, other opinions are available and are just as valid.

If you want the proper stuff I think i have a small sachet in the garage. I can send it to you. I've always used a graphite based grease on any freshly built motor. Can't remember the brand name but someone will chime in.

Gents

Thanks for the input, I do plan to start straight away but now have another small delay with a failed helicoil so while I figure how to sort that I'll order the proper stuff just to be safe..
