70mm piston picture please

#1 PostAuthor: Big Fluff » Fri May 12, 2017 6:35 pm

To save me whipping the head off this TCII I have in my workshop, can I ask somebody to supply me with a picture of the underside of a standard genuine Kawasaki piston so I can see what I have on this engine.
I've tried sticking a light probe down the plug hole, but to be honest you still can't tell whether it's a cast jobbie or a forged piston.
The only vision I have of the piston is through the sump on the underside of the pistons, and then it's still very limited viewing!
There doesn't seem to be any ID marks apart from a few raised dots on these pistons, and they do look cast to me.

I need to know so I know where to set the boost retard and save whipping the head off.

Thanks, Will

:D :D :D :D :D I think BigFluff knows his way round an engine :D :D :D

I'm guessing this is a fact finding mission rather than any remedial work going on.

Think Fluff wants to see TOP of piston - as viewed thru the plug-hole :!:
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!

Thank you for the picture, appreciated. As I thought, they are indeed forged items.
With any carbon on the top of the piston, it's very difficult to see any change in contours and texture hence request for picture underneath. Even then it's like the black hole of Calcutta looking up inside the motor.

8 Valve Mark - Err... I don't cut corners ever mate! As Gary suggested, this is for research only and I've done my share of engine builds in my time!
