Hi Chaps,
Starter motor died on my Kawasaki ZRX.
When I stripped it down it was full of oily grease - both ends.

No one in the ZRX forums has ever seen this before.
Anyone on here seen or encountered it before please?

I can only imagine it is engine oil getting in past a seal or O ring from the crank cases
OR
Something in the SM itself is breaking down and releasing oily gloop.

Any advice appreciated. Don't want to refurb/ replace and find it is due to something I have not fathomed out and it happens again :-( :-(

Just when the weather is absolutely cracking as well

If anyone has a new or good used starter motor (marked Mitsuba SM-13 12V) please pm me.

Cheers from Mark

yes its not uncommon. it would be worth giving cradley a call & speak to the technical department as i think there was a service bulletin regarding oil leaking into the starter
