Petrol Leak

#1 PostAuthor: BigZCas » Thu Jul 20, 2017 6:15 pm

Just got on the Z1000a2 to go down to the Vic bike meet and found that it has decided to expel petrol from the overflow pipe as quickly as it possibly can :x
Traced it to the carb 1.
What should I try first for a remedy :??
Thanks for any help...

You may have had a bit rubbish go through and sitting in the float valve seat, try taking drain plug out and turning to prime to hopefully flush it out, also in line fuel filters help where crud in the tank is concerned.

If its crap in the carb and you are out...tapping the float bowl gently with a screwdriver or similar usually sorts the sticking/clogged float and stops the overflowing
Why do I persist in debating with idiots ? I really should know better :)

Sorted today.
Removed the float bowl and turned the petrol on, lifted the floats up with finger and this did not stop the petrol.
I got a piece of carb overflow pipe and put one end between the floats and against the float needle valve and then blow down the other end.
Hay presto Fixed :)
road tested ok, no leak.
