Best quality 4=1?

#1 PostAuthor: garyd » Sun Sep 24, 2017 10:25 pm

Can't afford any of the jap bling so looking to get maybe a V&H or Kerker.
If I can get 2nd hand I'd get it coated, but is there an alternative megaphone style exhaust that's better quality as I've heard both of the above are not particularly well finished.

Kerker is a lot of money for what it is, I wasn't impressed with the one that came on my bike, Vance and Hines is cheaper and better made, depends what you want though, you can get a repro Harris, hopefully better made than the originals.

The Delkavic is certainly great value for money, the cone doesn't look quite right though.
As has been said the kerker is very poor value for money - but the looks are spot on. If you like the look of the Kerver then what about the Marshall Deeptone, which is pretty much clone of the Kerver (except with removable downpipes). I have one I'm going to use on one of my projects.

Thinking of getting a Kerker style megaphone made in stainless....obviously if I can get a batch done it will be cheaper.

Have put feelers out already but can't give any definites at the moment.

Any positive comments...or is it a bad idea?

Just put one of these on my J and it's great.
Looks good n makes a great noise :up

Only negative was that the collars on the headers barely left enough of the cylinder head studs to thread the nuts on fully, but it's fine once re-torqued a few times.

External diameter is 35mm (half-way down the down-pipe).

Just put one of the Delkevic 4-1’s on my z900.
Only thing is the kickstand now wants to whack against the frame when it goes back. They do supply a bracket with the exhaust but it looks like that’s for the main stand.
This can’t be a new problem I’m guessing ? What d’ya do ?
Cheers

Your stand should not do that, there is a lot of us with 4into 1's and don't have that problem, is your stand bent or is the wrong one for the bike?

Ah oK, that makes sense.
Not sure if it’s the right stand as it was on the when I got the bike. I did think the bike leans a bit heavily over to the left on the kickstand. Maybe that’s why then.
Guess I better check and see about getting a new one.
Cheers
