dropped my Z1a

#1 PostAuthor: chrispyduck » Thu Oct 05, 2017 3:15 pm

Moving my bikes around the garage today i pushed the Z1 off the centre stand and it fell away from me. :blush
I feel such a dick head for letting this happen however luckily or unluckily (depending on your point of view) it fell onto my trail bike stand thus preventing the exhausts from touching the floor. However the weight was all on the side panel which cracked and broke with most of the paint flaked off.
Not sure if the panel is genuine Z1 or pattern ? how can i tell?
Any thoughts on who could repair and paint it. The original restoration was painted by Dream Machine about 15 years ago, there is a code scribed on the inside.

Thanks from an embarrassed Chrispyduck.

Oh no what an absolute bummer, I bet most of us have had nearly the same experience.

I am sure you have good company with incidents like this.

It really depends on how badly cracked if it is worth repairing. Pattern ones are not that expensive. Hutch repainted mine to a perfect match after being attacked by a fuel leak.

Pattern ones usually have the word 'PATT' or 'Pattern' moulded on the inside of the panel.

Mine has Made in Japan on the inside.
If this means it's genuine Kawasaki then perhaps I will try and get it repaired.
Anyone got a contact for Hutch? I will be at the Stafford show on Saturday so could bring it with me.

you need a bodyshop with a spectro - photometer it analizes the paint and issues the formula for the mix of the colour your paint is now.

I thought £114 was not a bad price, 2-3 hours labour plus materials etc etc

£114 might be the way to go.. Would be a purfect match.. & don't forget it's right next to the tank..so if it don't match you will see the difference.. My right Panal came off at 70mph, I went back for it, but it was friged.. Got another one, and gave my painter the fringed one for colour match... Matched it purfetley.. :D
