Cannot find old thread.

#1 PostAuthor: stevie g » Tue Oct 10, 2017 5:55 pm

Hi Guys, can someone point me in the direction of an old thread on here regarding fitting a Z1000 engine into a zeph 750 please. Picked up an engine the other day ( Z thou ) and I may have access to a frame. Thanks, $tevie.

Log in using Google Chrome as your browser and there is a free app https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... dkpmcpkaon that enables Photobucket pics to be seen.

Hi, not sure, I cannot see any of the pics for some reason. I think I remember you had to cut the frame to get the lump in, is that correct ? Update: I can see it now, yes that's the one. Thanks. I'll be asking you question soon. Cheers $tevie.

Yes! I had to cut the frame and re-make every engine mount using a jig I made.
It is a very tight fit and the engine won't go in with the head on.
Not really an engine swap but a complete re-design.
A lot of the work with the jig etc is not in the thread because it got lost when the site went down a few years ago.

Hmm, Think that is too far beyond me. Shame cos I love the Zeph 750 look. I've got a Z 750 frame too, wonder if it'll go into that ? There's no head on it at the mo so I stuck it into a zeph 550 frame, went in no probs but when I roughly measured my CSR 1000 engine it was way too tall, was hoping the zeph 750 frame would be a bit taller, bummer. Thanks for the advice, appreciated mate, $

1000 engine will go into z650/750 frame.
It's still tight though, no major frame surgery needed just engine mounts but it creates some other niggles that need sorting.
The fuel tank tends to hit the camcover and the engine needs to come out to do the shims etc.
