Hi folks thanks for the advice on Engine Cleaning , now I would like to ask who can you recommend for spare parts for Classic Kawasakis , I need a complete rebuild kit for the carbs including airbox intake rubbers , my fuel tank is pretty corroded inside and probably past coating it , has anyone fitted the pattern type tanks that are for sale on EBay and are they a good fit , whats the quality like ?

Yes z power do all the stuff, offer discount for members, there have been problems with some patten tanks, I have just cleaned out mine which was pretty poor inside, came out like a new pin, coated inside looks new.

Your main problem will be exhausts (If you're going Standard) which are pretty much unavailable without the sale of several vital organs.

Cheers Gary , I am restoring a Mad Max Toecutter Replica bike , so standard exhausts are not needed , thankfully !!( £££,) its got a 4_1 , looks like a Laser pipe , pretty much like the one used on the movie bike !!

James, I've got a z1000a1 to restore too. Got plenty of spares, so give me a shout if you need anything. You never know I might just have something you need.

Thanks mate , am looking for a standard mudguard for a kick off , it will be getting painted so chromework is not important , just clean with no dings or scrapes will suffice . Might be on the lookout for a tank , if the one I have doesn't clean up internally !!

Unfortunately as my z1000 came in crates and I don't have a front or rear mudguard. However, I do have a z1000Ltd mudguard, it's a bit rusty but should be OK for painting after a clean up. You can have it for nothing if you pay the postage.
I have a few tanks, but trying to decide which one to use for mine....

I got some bits recently from JW Groombridge listed substantially cheaper for those particular parts than either Cradley or CMS,they list a good bit of NOS stock and their site is easy to use too, worth a try in addition to all the above mentioned. Also NRP are good for carb and tap kits I’ve had stuff off them although not for a zed and Andy is very helpful and knowledgeable.

Try a product called metal rescue available on amazon in your tank
I have seen pretty impressive results with it

I use a kit from Restom, a French brand, and I'm very satisfied about the quality.
The kit consists of a degreaser, a deruster and a 2 component resine. It takes about 2 days to apply it, there's a notice how you have to use it but it's written in French. For a Z1000 fueltank it costs about 60 Euro.
The company gives 20 years of warranty if applied correctly (how the F*** do they know how one applied it???)
Anyway I used it several years ago in one of my bikes and it's still there.
