Re: Ignition Leads
I know others use the wired George mod, but it is not needed if your loom is in good clean un-butchered condition, go with dyna-s or Boyer, they are both good, where plugs are concerned i have had no problems with either brand, but i buy locally and not from the web, if you go Boyer that system will very soon let you know if you need the WG mod.

I have a set of Dyna coils on my z1000 since the mid nineties sometimes and they have been trouble free

Also will both Taylor and Dyna 8mm Leads connect to my coils and what's the difference ? Cheers all.
Leads can be replaced if coil resistance checks out ok and coils not cracked/damaged,careful use of junior hacksaw and stanley knife will expose were they join inside the coil towers, just get some ht lead same diameter and solder on using araldite to seal, new plug caps and Denso plugs preferable in mho too many copied Ngks on ebay.As said wired George mod is ok but better if loom is good and giving full battery volts at coils.Nowt wrong with points but as said Dyna s is a good upgrade and a doddle to fit.Paul J

Re: Ignition Leads
Thanks all - Yeah need to give more thought as the current bog standard set up is running just fine - Might just replace points with some genuine Kawasaki ones and replace plugs with some new Denso's on next service. If there is a prob with the coils in the future maybe that would be a time to consider other options.Cheers.

Re: Ignition Leads
Can anyone confirm whether the standard coils need 7mm or 8mm leads?
The ones fitted at the moment that I'm looking to replace are 7mm.

Re: Ignition Leads
Dyna S once you've done the 'wired george' mod.
So easy to fit - then forget..............
work fine with the standard coils too
