Before I remove cam cover can someone please advise the following. Parts required are new cam gasket. Sealant, New end caps or reuse? There is a slight weep of oil when engine is running, very slight! Happy to buy new ones but if reuse is the done thing then il follow suit.looked at replacing with the metal type? Any thoughts please plus am I missing something? I intend checking the clearances then using the forums loan shim tool and exchange shims as necessary. Not head a cam cover off a bike for many years so want to be sure I have not forgotten the obvious?
Cheers,
Ian.

New end cam caps - depends whether they have aged, worn or are distorted. Personally I would probably replace, but this may not be necessary.

make sure you follow the correct procedure but if you do its all straightforward.
depends where the 'weep' is. if you think its the end caps then yes replace. if they look old then replace.
if they're good then they should stay in place when you remove the cover/gasket and don't need to be touched.
take your time if you've not done a Z before.

Thanks for replies. I have done various reshims on different big Kawaskis and Suzukis back when I had them in the late 70 s and 80 s. Been the modern bike route for the last few years so not done much home mechanics. Quite looking forward to playing with an old un again.
