Piston Options?

#1 PostAuthor: DogsbolloxofZ1B » Wed Nov 08, 2017 10:24 pm

In a bit of a quandary now as I have bores on a Z1B that are
just a fag paper oversize for 2nd oversize pistons
Buying new LA liners is an option but expensive and
if I go to those lenths it would make sense to
revert to stock pistons making it even more costly.
What are my options? Is there a piston size that would
work with stock head gasket to keep compression ratio correct?
If so just a simple rebore is easy. Never been above 2nd oversize. eek.

Hi

take a look there
http://www.scheuerlein-motorentechnik.d ... -7016.html
You get a complete set of 4 pistons, rings, bolts and circlips for 540 Euro. Not cheap but might be a solution for you.
Scheuerlein is in Germany, they do understand English and are very helpfull to answer your questions !
Good luck

Hi Mike,
I been told that standard size Z1000 pistons will work. The liners apparently can be just about taken to the bigger bore. Might be worth looking into a bit more

You can bore out to 70mm and use std 1015cc pistons no problem.
Plenty of good used z1000 pistons about and you will only need to buy new rings and circlips.
The liners will actually go out to 71mm (1045cc) .

Yup - I've got a z900A4 with 1015 pistons.
