You could end up over charging or under charging batteries.

A smart Battery charger is designed to keep one battery in top condition. Some folk move a single charger from one bike to the other on a weekly basis. Just a thought.

I am moving it at the moment but thought it would be easier just to have multi conectors out of one conditioner (optimate). Then couldn't get my head round which would be better, series or parallel?

One charger one battery, I've got a few chargers free over the years by subscribing to practical sportsbike or classic mechanics.

Okay, making up a multi switch box. One conditioner in, 6 switched outlets it is then. Changing which bike is on charge is as simple as flicking switch.

oprimate do a multi bike coditioner. that is designed to charge all the bikes at the correct rate for each batt.
or build a split charge box.

Only parallel would stand a chance of working, that would give the full voltage to each battery and allow them to draw their own required current.

You couldn't guarantee how they would interact during the maintenance cycle of a battery conditioner.

Optimate's 4 battery multi charger is the same price as 4 individual ones last time I checked, so I can't see an advantage except for only needing one plug socket.

I have 3 optimate 3 & 5, now moved to ctek
The ctek is a much better charger than the other 2, It also has a lot more peripheral support, like charging indicators you can fit to the bike.
Hopefully Scott will be along as his install on his Z1000, he has the Ctek stuff installed very well on his bike.
All the batteries I now fit are Motobatt's

Right finally got all the bits to build the switch box. Six switches in a row. 4 terminal toggle switches. Connected all + terminals together and all - terminals together on one side of the swtches with a tail out the box from the the first switch + and - to plug the optimate in. I've run a 2 core from the other side switch terminals to each bike, so I can just switch each bike to charge alternatining between bikes with the flick of a switch.
Question ? How does a optimate "know" when to switch on or off? Reason for asking is I was going to run a led on each box switch so that when it is in the on position the led is lit.
The optimate has a red led to show charging which switches to a seperate green led when fully charged. Will adding leds to my switch box interupt this in anyway.? And which switch terminals should I use for the leds? Obviously either side of the switched connection but does it matter to not cock up the optimate leds/cycles.

Ps I like leds!!!!
Once I've sorted this I'll get back to the led rev counter project.

Seems to work without messing the Optimate conditioning cycle. Just select the bike to charge by throwing the relevant switch. Led is alight when switch is in the on position and Led's on the optimate show when the battery is fully charged and ready change bikes.
