Dyna coils
Hi’ all, need a bit of info on coils, I’ve got some Dyna coils the red one’s, can they be used on a gpz1100 engine, or do l need the green coils, not sure what the difference is, I know it’s 3’ohm and 2.8’ohm will it matter on the bike, or have I got to buy some green coils.. ?
Re: Dyna coils
I am sure I put green ones on my GPZ1100 years ago
Z1b, z1000a1 x 2 , Aprilia v4 Tuono factory, SV1000
Re: Dyna coils
Red ones are 1.5 ohm and too low a resistance.
They will overheat and fail fast.
You need the same or more resistance than the original Geep coils which were 2.2 I think.
Grey are 2.2 ohm and green are 3 ohm .
I recommend the Green 3.0, they will run cooler and also cover you if you fit a Dyna 'S' ign in the future.

Those would have been pairs wired in series then, so that two 2 pole 1.5 ohm coils act as one 4 pole 3 ohm coil which is how I run them on my own 8 plugger.
Re: Dyna coils
yes they are still set up all 4 of them, I see what you mean how they are wired up,,,
