Good Evening

I am looking to build my Z1B project to UK spec

I have the chrome bits , the UK fork reflectors and the seat with the strap . I need some shock absorbers without reflectors but I have seen repro ones .

Do I use a short stem rear indicator ?

Are there any other features I need to know about ?

The grab rail in the photo is for a Z900 A4 UK model. The Z1B has the std hand rail.

UK specific bits are front forks with chrome discs not reflectors, rear shocks with no reflectors, long rear fender with no reflectors, rear light mounting to suit the long fender, seat with strap, headlight with side light and Euro chrome bezel, left hand switchgear with flasher. Probably more but I'm in the pub at the minute and my poor memory is being adversely affected!

All good stuff to know Steve , I have been told that the UK Z1B had the indicators on the grab rail but I could be mistaken of course

UK Z1B did not have indicators on grab rail and I don`t think any from USA did

Good news there then , the grab rail without indicator mounts is much nicer

I think the U.K. models had a long “mudguard “ and the US Models had a short “fender”

Ok here we go, this is what I've found on mine and after doing some research
None of the Z1 models had indicators mounted on the grab rail nor a reflector on the Long rear guard.
Other subtle differences -

Koito front light with single chrome rim and sidelight.
The RH Switch had the PO painted to suit.
A resistor was bolted to a bracket under the RH coil to stop the bulb blowing.
Flasher on LH Switch
Chrome front discs on forks
No reflectors on rear shocks.
Seat Strap.
Long Rear Guard
The decal on the tray in the tailpiece had (European Model).
The headstock frame decal (silver) was not used but all had to carry the E11 10R 241 interference decal.
And the hardest to change -
The UK destined bikes had a slightly different bottom yolk, housing a UK specific Steering Lock (sits flush).
The steering lock key was not a Lion key.

This may also help if looking to buy a UK model.

If anyone needs any of these I make them out of stainless.

UK models had metal plug caps. VERY pricey IF you can find them.

Indicator lenses were different front to rear (IIRC clearer front than rear).

UK models were also faster.

Metal plug caps, I just added some grey shrinkwrap, They will do

Solid front foot pegs and different rubber pattern.

There are loads of subtle differences it is worth getting a good book. I think John Brookes one is one of the best.

My Uk spec z1b has folding front footrests, single headlamp rim with a Stanley headlamp lens, grab rail with indicator mounts,long rear guard no holes, frosted rear indicator lens, chrome blanks on front forks, Nippondenso grey shaft plug caps, Seat strap,UK/Euro steering lock.plastic body master cylinder, plain rear shocks.
