Does anyone know the differences between D1 and D3 tree's, they have different parts numbers?
Perhaps change of rake to suit the 18/19" wheels?
It's the Ozzie one's, the type with steering lock thru the frame on the RHS into stem tube.
Thanks in advance.

good morning ross hope all is well down there !!!!!!!!!!!
any change of rake would be on the frame side are you sat on the bike or stood if front for your rhs this is off my z1000s which is z1r of german type the only thing diffo to my uk bike is position of lock and has a diffo part No to uk one
then the diffo between 18" & 19" wheel is side stand length
hope this helps

All good down here thanks Neil, actually things never been better, looks like we got thru the GFC and slowly picking up, light at the end of the tunnel.
Yes sat on bike lock is on RHS, think the UK and Oz Z1R's are the same same, must be some other difference to run different part numbers???, don't have a D1 in our gang to compare.
Wonder why the Germans put lock on other side? maybe somethink to do with driving on wrong side of road and the way they park up??
Looks like your going back to original with the S, good to see another one saved.
Is all the extra parts in 3rd pic the dreaded side stand switch bits?

Just a thought Ross but the D3 frame has no provision for a steering lock ( or at least one is not shown on the fiche) and one is not listed in the parts inventory, so just mebe the tree has no cutout to facilitate one which could explain the part number. I cannot see any other difference

Thanks Keith, my Aust compliance D3 has the lock thru frame and it's shown in Aust genuine 1979 D2 parts book, lock is same part number as D3, but not D1 (probably due to key number range), l don't have books for D1 or D3 but online shows this. l thought all bikes wood have a steering lock in these years, maybe a case of different markets get different bits, maybe another great Zed mystery never to be resolved.
Any way l must be of, got a few chimmines to drop into.
