Z1OwnersClub GB

I've noticed that Z Power list gearbox thrust washers in varying thicknesses but my Haynes manual doesn't appear to mention what to measure or what the endfloat should be for a Z1000 A1/2.

I'd like to check this and if necessary adjust the clearance, particularly as the gearbox is being built into different cases. I've tried a search but can't see anything on this. Can anyone shed any light even of its to recommend a better workshop manual!

there are 7 different thrust washers fitted between various gears & bearings & each one is located in specific areas of the gearbox

try to find a genuine Kawasaki repair/shop manual, you can find them, original or copied, google it and go for it !

You won't have any problem dropping the box into another set of cases unless it's a later 'J' or GPZ cluster conversion into early cases.
If it ran ok in one motor it will be just the same in another.
The thrust washers you mention are the same thicknesses in every gearbox and only need replacing if they are severely worn or damaged which is very rare.
They only get replaced like for like.

I've not tried the gearbox but everything so far in the engine is in surprisingly good nick so I'll just give the gearbox a close inspection and swap the shafts over to the new cases.
