Hello
Looking for a bit of advice on how to remove the footrest pegs for the purpose of powder coating the frame on my 1977 Z1000A1. Can this be done without damaging them.
Thanks in advance for any response.

Do you mean the studs ?
If so and they are ok, leave them in and the blaster / powder coaters will tape them up.
No point messing with them

Hi Djones
if you mean the studs: take a 14 mm wrench and loosen the bolts on the inside of the frame.(inside they have a 10mm fine thread)
Take two nuts of 13 mm,(inside they have an 8 mm normal thread) turn them both on one of the studs and tighten them to eachother with a 13 mm spanner.
Put the spanner on the nut which is close to the frame and turn counterclockwise, the stud will come out of the frame.
If this doesn't work spray some WD40 on the studs and wait until next year (in this case until tomorrow).
Repeat the same procedure as described above. This should work.
Good luck
