Hi
Can anyone offer any advice on removing the swinging arm bearings on Z1000A1 without special tools?
Thanks

Long metal drift with a flat edge, gently, or not so gently tap them out from the opposite end you want to remove.

I've just done this job. All 4 bearings were seized solid. Soaking in penetrant for a couple of days made no difference.
I partially cut through the bearing shells with a hacksaw blade then used a small chisel and punch to cave the shells in. The inner ones were a bit more awkward and I had to grind through them with a dremel and abrasive tool jobby, then split the outer bearing.
Hope this is helpful.

Hi Djones
as the swing arm will be powder coated as the rest of your frame I would suggest that you heat up the swing arm at the spot where the needle bearings are located. Then with a long steel bar tap them out from the opposite side. They're gone anyway, so get a new set.
In your swing arm there are 2 needle bearings, one on each side. On a Z1000A2, there are 4, 2 on each side.
Good luck
