Evening all,

Is it possible to get hold of a plastic level window for a gpz1100 anywhere? Mines all crazed and looks like it’s weeping a little.

Thanks,

Olly

[quote="z1bman"]what size is the one fitted ?

Its a big one, about 23 mm. Most ones listed seem to be 10 or 18 mm.

Cheers, Olly.

Hello mister,

Had another look last night and pulled the master cylinder apart.

The aperture in the m/cyl casting is definitely 23mm, there’s an O ring in there too. As luck would have it i had a scrap gpz1100 clutch cover kicking abou with a sight glass in it which I’m pretty sure is the 1009 sight glass you’ve identified. If I cut the seal off around the outside of the glass the metal remaining looks like it’s a press fit in the m/cly casting.

Sealing may or may not work, the rear face of the seal which wouldn’t need cutting off would butt up against the back of the aperture, so with a bit of sealant it might work.

The 1009 seal is only a £10 or so, so I’ll probably buy one and give it a go.

I’m a bit surprised there isn’t a solution out there as I can’t imagine it’s a very rare failure (?).

I’ll let you know if it can be made to work.

Olly

Nope, won’t work. With the rubber cut off it’s still too tight a fit, so ultimately the glass cracks.

Has anyone any ideas or advice please? I don’t really want to have to replace the whole master cylinder if I can help it.

If I do end up needing another one, does anyone have a suitable gpz1100b / z1000j master cylinder for sale, or is there an alternative or upgrade that works well?

Thanks,

Olly
