Had the chance to offer up my square gpz1100 b1 tank yesterday, and it does have narrower front mountings.
Fortunately, it seems that some nice person (presumably from Kipkawa where I bought the bike) has taken this into account by fitting removable spacers (3 thick washers) on the mounting pegs on the frame. For the wider US round tank fitting, the rubber mounts are pushed out to match. Take out the spacers and push the rubbers in tight, and the narrow Euro square tank fits too :D
Simple solution !
