Air Box Identification Please

#1 PostAuthor: csx355 » Mon Jan 15, 2018 10:52 pm

Hi all - everything was going so well with my build - carbs on, motor running - thought that I would have a look at the airbox's that came with the bike and pick the best one - but there is no facility with either to fit a filter? So i'm guessing whatever these are off it isn't a 1977 z1000a1. Which I'm guessing means that I'm pretty much screwed - any ideas what these might fit and what it might take to get it sorted please?

There are no markings of any sort on either of the two box's.

Hi csx355
the air filter boxes are definitively not from a Z1000 A ! I have no idea from what kind of bike they are, I don't know if they are from a Kawasaki...
You'll have to search an original airbox from a Z1000 but those are now made of "unobtanium" and very rare!
Good luck with your search!

I'm pretty sure a z1 box will fit in your bike as I had a reproduction one fitted in my A4 until recently when I managed to get a standard one, all the brackets didn't fit but the box was steady enough. Z Power sell the Z1 repro ones for £120 from memory. I may have one somewhere too but can't put my hand on it at moment.

Also there is an original on Fleabay with bids of £12.50 with 3 days to go

I'll second that, or GSX1100ET, which are interchangeable with the GS1000, it's the two captive screws at the top that give it away.
Cheers,

Mark.

Hi Steve
It is definitely not a z900 or z1000 type.
John Browse breaks and repairs Kawasakis. He is in Wrexham and his number is 01978 355556.
Good luck.
