Best tyres for Z1100R.

#1 PostAuthor: nick pearce » Mon Feb 05, 2018 8:34 pm

Hi everyone, I'm sure there was a thread a few years ago on grippy tyres for the Z1000J /Z1100R. I need a new pair for my Z 1100R running standard wheels. (both are 18").Cheers , Nick.

My vote would go to Continental Classic Attack, which are radials for classic bikes:

Thanks chaps, all sound good. I've used metzelers on a Z1000j for years and found them good. If the classic attacks offer slightly more grip cornering I'll probably try them. Cheers.

I have a Classic Attack on the back of my YPVS and it seems to be very good, though unfortunately they don't make them in Z1100R sizes.

I've been using Avon Roadriders (110-18 front and a 130-18 rear) on my J and they've been fine in all weathers, including torrential rain in Belgium. Saying that, I'm moving to sticky Continental radials this year...

My bad, sorry!
You could try the similar Conti Road Attack 2, which comes in sizes you could probably use ! 130/80 18 rather than 130/90 18 , and 110/80 18 rather than 110/90 18. For the 130s there about an inch difference in overall diameter (3.8%), and rather less for the 119s.
But, as has been observed, BT45s are pretty grippy and well behaved.

Thanks again everyone, on the case now. Been using BT45s on my YPVS and an RD 350LC and work really well. Thinking that route now on the Z1100R.
