Help needed please.
The two riveted parts of my throttle cable bracket have become a bit loose. Do they respond well to a large hammer and punch or is it best to drill the rivets out and replace with nuts and bolts?
Thanks Roger

There should be some movement in them to allow the closing cable action to work properly.

Cleaning my carb bits up, no play in the rivets on mine, solid.

The play is normal.
That's why there is a spring between them and the back plate near where they bolt on with the 2 countersunk screws.
It's to provide a bit of cushion for the closing cable.
The holes in the half of the bracket that isn't bolted down are larger than the rivets to allow movement.

Thanks all for the detailed response. I'll leave well alone. For info. I bought Mark Tillers lovely KZ1000A1 a couple of weeks ago. It's great to have it in the shed. I've wanted one for a long time. Of course I can't help but have a fiddle...

Yes, lubed the braket I cleaned up, and yes there is play in it now.
