damien.wrl wrote:I have seen tons of stuff on here about tank liners etc, my original tank apart from a chip and a dent is pretty good , I am reluctant to change it but the inside is pretty manky, surface rust no flaking ..my mechanic says it will do but has anyone had experience of a company who can clean and protect the inside of the tank long term ... not to keen on vinegar/coke and wd40 solutions...
Here's another Opinion...for what it's worth & who know's who's right - perhaps none of us ???? All I can say is I used inside 2 of my bike tanks (one a 900 Kawa & the other a SR-500 )....both Rusty but not Flakey on the inside & with " both have good Original paintwork" & wrapped /taped 1inch thick of foam sheet to the tank outer itself then 1/3 filled it internally with small gravel. I then (one at a time ) put them inside a Cement mixers drum & meticulously padded it out heavily with old foam from sofa's down the tip ! ........so it couldn't really move at all in the drum. Then span it for 10 minutes to remove all the internal rust from each tank . Then used a POR Gold Tank Seal Kit ( consists of 3 process's ) followed the instructions to the letter & almost 6 years later ...never had a problem & looks the same inside as the day I sealed em. Good luck what ever way you go.

Re: Tank issues
