Ok, so well underway with the strip down.

I read somewhere that all the Z900A4 for the US market were manufactured in Nebraska US.
Is this correct as mine is a US import but the sticker says Made in Japan .
Date stamps are -
Wheels 5H & 5G
Swing arm 5.07
Switches 5.08
June - Aug
Shocks have a single F on them, is this a date stamp
Thanks

Re: Z900A4 Questions
first I am no expert
I bought the Book by David Marsden
there is a chart on page 13 that is showing USA Production Figures when you get to August there is a -- showing no z900 made in the USA and the same for the Jap market
in the book it says that in "1975 they made 9200 units in the states and in 1976 they made 12144 units which was about 60% of the total production, proving where Kawasaki saw it's largest Market to be"
there is no mention that all USA sold bikes were built in the USA
but he does say its the best of all the z1/z900 models

Re: Z900A4 Questions
All date codes look good.
Genuine shocks have a small hole below the top mount for a dowel pin (pattern don't).
Your front mudguard is on back-to-front.

Re: Z900A4 Questions
Yes there is a dowel pin.
Don't worry the front mudguard will go back on the correct way when I put the bike back together
So, the bike was manufactured in Japan for the US market

USA bikes frame numbers start with a 5xxxxx
And on the 7th day... Zeds were created!
Re: Z900A4 Questions
I guess Kawasaki must have been manufacturing A4's for the US market in Japan and in the US.

Re: Z900A4 Questions
Hi BigZCas
don't worry about your bike, it seems to be OK and very original
It was manufactured in August '75 in Japan. It was imported in the US and then exported to the UK.
It was not manufactured in the US but destined for the US market hence the KZ nomination, one front disk brake rotor, short rear mudguard and the orange reflector.
All the date codes look OK so you have a great Z900A4 congratulations!!
Take the "bird cage" off and replace the exhaust by a beautifull 4 in 4 and it 'll be a stunning bike.
